Selling Your Home
The First Impression Really Counts!
Make certain you follow these guidelines to ensure your home looks it's best. Review and
check off the items. This will help create desirability for your home and support the
price you have choosen to sell. Make your home the last home your buyers see!
The Yard:
Make certain your lawn is freshly mowed, edged, and free of debris and weeds
Trim all bushes, trees, and shrubs
Fertilize the lawn, flowers, and shrubs
Lay fresh mulch or pine straw
Plant flowers in pots around front door, beds, and deck
Keep garbage cans hidden
Keep driveway, deck, and home free of toys, bikes, tools, etc
The Exterior:
Put a fresh coat of paint on home and window trim if needed
Pressure wash home, deck, driveway, and walkways
Freshen up your front door and walkway to look inviting
Clean out gutters
Repair or replace window screens
Remove rust from A/C units
Clean deck furniture, grill, and windows
The Interior:
Make certain the home is kept clean and in good condition
Place candles, scented oil, or potpourie in the home
Keep clutter to a minimum in closets, table tops, kitchen counter tops, bathrooms
Carpets, tile floors, and hardwood floors should be kept clean at all times
Bathrooms can be difficult to clean, but are very important in the overall appearence of
your home.
Seal and clean tile and grout.
Store extra boxes, toys, misc items not used to make home look larger
Leave on lights, ceiling fans, and music for that warm inviting feeling
Replace old furnace filters and clean vent covers
Open Blinds to let natural light in
Try to neutralize inside of home if possible when re-painting the interior
Clean interior windows
Clean and service fireplace to ensure it's in working condition and is safe
NEVER hide a problem. Have a handy man or licensed contractor come out to repair and
broken appliances, cracks in wall, cracks in concrete, roof leaks, wet basements,
fixtures, lights, or any other issues you may have
Keep beds made
Try to be out when showings occur and never offer information to a buyer, or his agent
without representation
Never open your door to strangers for showings. Agents who are licensed should always have
a lockbox key! BE SAFE
